If you suddenly have a burst pipe or failed joint the first thing to do is not to panic, go and get that water turned off to prevent your house being flooded and prevent more damage from being done. Water damage can be horrendous if you allow too much water into your home.
Once the water is off try to do something about the water that has been spilled and get in touch with that hero of the hour your local plumber.
Most plumbers will offer an emergency service that will be able to get around to you in a fairly short space of time to remedy your problem. They will carry all of the equipment and spares that will be needed to fix that leak and get things back as good as new. While they are there get them to check why the problem happened to make sure it is not going to happen again.
Dealing with leaky pipe or blocked drain could cause headache so the least that you could do is to have a reliable plumber that you can call to solve the issue.

Most of us DIY masters have made this mistake at some point or another; we blindly start drilling a hole in the wall to start hanging a new cabinet or a shelf and the next thing we know we have Niagara falls running down the wall.
Well a cork in the hole is not going to solve the problem as it will continue to leak and end up causing some pretty serious damage. You need to get that water turned off immediately and get the plumber in.
Many local plumbers have an emergency service that will be available to come and rescue after this sort of incident and they can often be there pretty quick. The plumber will know exactly how to patch that leak and stop the damage; you just have to worry about you red cheeks for having drilled the hole in the first place.
